Can I just say that I idolize Carrie Bradshaw? I realize she’s fictitious, but sometimes there’s no one more real than the characters coming into my life via my TV. While some of her lifestyle choices are far from my own—living in New York City, splurging on shoes rather than maintaining a healthy savings account—I can’t help but wait breathlessly throughout each episode to see what she’s going to wear in the next shot. Sex and the City was banned in my house by my protective mother, and while I understand the good intentions underlying this frustrating “abuse of parental power,” as I saw it, now I have so much to catch up on!
With all this fashion inspiration at my fingertips, it makes it difficult to imagine going out to lunch in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt! I love the way she takes risks–yes, yes, I completely understand that she’s scripted to take fashion risks–and doesn’t let her outfit wear her, no matter how outrageous it might be. There are definitely too many outfits for me to show here, but here are a couple of my current obsessions.
